Inka Ferkova

Adv.Dip of Naturopathy

Hello, my name is Inka and I’m originally from Czech Republic. I came to Melbourne in 2002 to get married to my husband whom I met whilst living in London. My interest in alternative medicine stemmed from seeing a Naturopath in Fitzroy who was using herbal medicine, nutritional medicine and flower essences.

I studied Naturopathy in Melbourne and really enjoyed subjects like nutritional biochemistry and herbal medicine. We had to complete 300 hours of clinic during our study and as challenging it was, I learnt a lot and gained a lot of practical knowledge.

After finishing my studies and achieving Advanced Diploma of Naturopathy I started working at a major health food store chain where I got to use my knowledge and educate the wider public on how to look after their health.

Less than a year later I gave birth to my daughter and not too long after that my son. After a three year “break”, I started working back in a health food shop in Bendigo which I enjoyed very much. Shortly afterwards I also started working in a health food shop in Kyneton where I also practiced as a naturopath, and still do.

I love both aspects of my work as I get to talk to customers about anything that relates to health and healthy food and I get to help patients in clinic improve their health, lifestyle and food choices.

I’m very interested in super healthy food, I love reading and walking my puppy in the bush. My family enjoys camping and my son loves to cook, especially baking anything sweet. My daughter crafts or reads when she is at home and my husband loves to spend his time in the garden growing vegetables and is a very good cook.
